Photoshoot Time!

Before the Shoot

Prepping Your Horse

Prepping Your Horse

We'll chat about what type of shoot you're interested in to best determine location, timing, etc. If you are not the barn owner, double check with them that there will be no issues with us taking photos around the property that day. Recruit a barn buddy to help out with holding or getting ears forward. Review and submit the contract and deposit (50%) to book your session.

If you can, bathe your horse a day or two before the shoot, then do what you can to keep him clean. The day of, groom him well, as if you were going to a show. A braided or banded mane is lovely, but not necessary for a beautiful photo- just depends on the look you want. Make sure tack is clean & fits well. As much as I love bright colors & patterns, solid, darker halters are best for photos.

What To Wear

Prepping Your Horse

What To Wear

Wear what you love and are comfortable in! Don't be afraid to wear that dress or outfit that isn't a "barn outfit". Keep your horse's color in mind to avoid clashing as much as possible. If you're not sure, I'm happy to help you choose an outfit. If needed, be sure to bring along a jacket and/or different shoes to put on between location changes, etc. Remember: safety first!

What To Wear

Once it's photoshoot time, just have fun! Horses WILL move. Don't worry! I'll guide the positioning of you & your horse, but at the end of the day, we work with what they give us. My goal is to capture beautiful images without stress- the absolute last thing I want is to frustrate your horse (or you) for a photo- so just breathe and smile.

After the shoot, your work is done! I will get to work editing and will be in touch when the images are done. I'll send you a link to view your personal online gallery, from which you can choose your favorite prints/products to order. If print proofs are included in your package, they will be mailed directly to the address you provided.

Spread the Word

If you have fun and love your photos, I hope you'll tell your friends and family. This little business of mine has been built entirely on word of mouth, so its continued growth depends on happy clients telling their barn buddies. Discounts are also possible if multiple clients book the same day/location.
